Doreen Horton, a fifth generation Vermonter from Craftsbury, opened ”Doreen’s Antiques” on Route 100 in Waterbury Center. Horton, who once worked in human resources for the state government, started getting into antiquing about 10 years ago when she retired.
“I couldn’t just sit and watch paint dry,” she says with a laugh.
Among Horton’s specialties is a collection of antique linens and quilts, which she says have become more popular.
“I like to learn about what people do with them,” she says. “I had one woman who was looking for embroidered linen to make into a curtain.”
